Can't say much about this park since it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays when I visited you can walk past the gate but there's not much parking on the outside of the gate

Stopped here for a mid-morning hike on the El Paso - Phoenix leg of a road trip back to California. It’s only about 15 minutes of I-10 and a nice way to break up the drive. You’re basically hiking up a canyon that ends with a view point looking over the other side of the mountains - you can see all the way into Mexico (which is pretty cool). Trail was pretty quiet when we were there - with the exception of a girl scout troop who was finishing an overnight camping trip.
We found Spring Canyon a great place to bird, even the end of February. It is a well laid out picnic/day use area that has great views and a lot of private space for the individual picnic shelters. The roads into the area are good and it is only a short trip from Deming making it perfect for a family outing.
Nice state park with nice hiking trails and great views.
